This afternoon I recorded four of my Tibetan singing bowls. You can download the samples for free. There are 34 tracks. I’ve played the four bowls with four different hammers and recorded that with two different microphones, a Shure SM57 (microphone 1) and a Zoom H2n (microphone 2), the Zoom samples are recorded in stereo, the Shure in mono.

I haven’t pitch-shifted the samples, so the pitches are not quantised to the nearest semitones. The amplitude is normalised therefore quite a few samples struggle with some noise.

In the first Demo track I quantised the pitches to see if I could use these samples as ‘tonal instruments’. I think I can.
